Help:Using Openbox in GNOME

In the end it was the sheer amount of reconfiguring to get Nautilus to play nice that did me in. Anyhow time has gone, and now Nautilus is probably a different version number. Otherwise you get what ‘LeonBA’ reports: You are commenting using your Twitter account.

Then my actual desktop changes, my icons move around opebbox different parts of the screen, and I don’t have the usual right-click options etc.

I just hope that nautilus will still be available after the demise of Gnome2.

It was quite a pleasant experience although I couldn’t switch long term. Ubuntu Forums Code of Conduct.

Nautilus in openbox Do as mcduck has described, or you can change the default functionality: Replaced pcmanfm in my desktop launchers with nautilus –no-desktop and unchecked “mount removable media automatically” in pcmanfm to get rid of a DBus error message.

Changed over to Xfce and really don’t like Thunar at all. In the default configuration rc. Not sure, but I feel this one could be a keeper. An old Mac trait of mine!

How to use Nautilus in Openbox ?

Once naugilus open nautilus, a daemon stays open and this controls the background. Nautilus will still run in default [desktop] mode if you run it from the [applications] menu however. It also uses hsetroot to set wallpaper. Nautilus has no control of the “desktop”. Then I opened Nautilus and got a prompt that I confirmed without reading, something about defaults, and when nautilus opened up my background changed to the Ubuntu default.

New Openbox problems | SparkyLinux

The time now is Go to ‘Panel Settings’. Ask Ubuntu works best with JavaScript enabled. Replace ‘nautilus’ with ‘pcmanfm’ and ‘konsole’ with ‘lxterminal’ or ‘xterm’ if necessary. The problem is to get it to work out of the Gnome environment. In the above solution the desktop is still drawn by ‘pcmanfm’. Note that registered members see fewer ads, and ContentLink is completely disabled once you log in. I like to have a file manager do lists, and to give me the option of columns.

If Nautilus is not already installed, Open Terminal. Announcing the arrival of Valued Associate
