Instead of saying that I’m mad, you can say I’m disappointed. Janan Cain explores various emotions in this book switching continuously from page to page rapidly. Reading it with children would help them to understand their feelings and teach them the words to express tbe feelings. The Way I Feel by Janan Cain
The Way I Feel goes through many emotions and how you feel and act when you are in that type of mood. This is helpful for children who have lower social emotional skills, because xain are better able to identify ffel with the characteristics provided.
It covers a narrow range of seven emotions: I recommend this book in the classroom and the home because it allows adults to explain to children that if they are feeling a certain way, to use their words. This was a great book for a storytime on Feelings. Each image displayed does a great job of conveying each emotion, and children will enjoy the simplicity, and will hopefully duplicate what they see.
Additionally, the passages provide explicit ccain of what these emotions look like. Try this with different clips of music.
As far as illustrations, all the images are on a double page spread so that readers can focus on one emotion at a time and not skip ahead. This is the only feelings book I’ve seen that covers “thankful” which is pretty neat. This award-winning, full-color book comes in two editions.
